History

With over 30 years of history, there is a lot to talk about. However, at The Farmer’s Box, we like to keep things simple when we can. But, we’d still like to share our history with you so you can get to know us better!

All the amazing organic fruit and vegetables at The Farmer’s Box is grown at the Lyncroft Farm, Ormskirk, Lancashire. The farm started out on a small acreage of land in 1978. Alf Gielty was the farmer and The Farmer’s Box is still run by the Gielty family today. We now deliver organic fruit and vegetable boxes in Toxteth

The farm was the first organic grower in the area and still uses the same David Brown 885 tractor. After all, it’s part of the family as well. Today the farm is run by Alf’s son Duncan Gielty and continues to meet the high-quality standards you deserve.

You also, have the peace of mind in knowing that the Farmer’s Box is a registered member of the Organic Food Federation. We have been members of the federation for years now and continue to always expand our services wherever possible.

This helps ensure we can always meet the demands of our customers. These days The Farmer’s Box farm has expanded to 110 acres of land. This means we can grow a large variety of vegetables, including carrots, sweet cherry tomatoes, potatoes, beetroot, lettuce, and many different varieties of cabbage, to name just a few.

The farm also, houses 3 acres of polytunnels and greenhouses as well. We have worked tirelessly over the years and continue to go from strength to strength.
